The Magic of Colors … Black

Some might even ask, if black is a real color.

When I was in school, my art teacher used to say, that black is defined via white and vice versus.

I think we can only understand the magic of light, which is white through the magic of darkness, the magic of the absence of light. And this is black.

Black – the color we usually use to print texts with.

Black is the key color in printing. Every color plate is adjusted according to the black-plate.

Is black, real black, 100 % black existing in nature?

I doubt it.

Even the darkest night is never without light.

Even the tiniest bit of light makes 100 % darkness obsolete.

Black in nature is somehow mysterious.

Imagine the magic of a dark night with silver moon light.

Black is the color which is connected with seriousness., with power, dignity.

In fashion black can be a very elegant color.

The so called little black dress.

A gentleman wears black tie.

Shiny black shoes… black velvet … academic robes … lawyer robes.

The robe of a Christian priest is usually black.

Although modern fashion regard black clothes being sexy and stylish.

Black is the color of grief, the unchangeable.

In Politics black is associated with anarchism.

Pirates have a black flag.

And speaking  superstitions: a black cat might bring good luck or bad luck, depending on your culture.

If somebody is called the black sheep of the family, he is usually regarded as the troublemaker.

  13. Wow that makes for an interesting read…..the only time I could say I have been in total blackness was underground deep in a caving network….when you turn off your light and sit and let the blackness surround you it is totally eerie….and a lot of people freak out and cannot handle it

    • thanks katrina for stopping by🙂
sounds interesting about the blackness of underground – i can.t imagine that.
i guess i am one of those who can.t handle it:/
my son sleeps with a tiny light on – although the city is never completely without light
